Vata - The Air Constitution
Vata is the type of energy responsible for movement, circulation, the transmission of impulses, and prana, the force of life. People who have elevated levels of vata tend to be spacey, anxiety-ridden, and isolated when imbalanced. They have difficulties with managing their energy and are prone to problems with dry skin, constipation, pain, panic attacks, anorexia, addictions, and sciatica, among other things. Pitta - The Fire Constitution
Pitta is the type of energy responsible for metabolism, the digestive fire, metabolic processes, enzyme production, and heat. People who have elevated levels of pitta tend to be irritated, jealous, critical, self-critical, competitive, impatient, and bitter when imbalanced. They are prone to problems with inflammations, skin, liver, and eye disorders, heartburn, and sensitive teeth, among other things. They can handle their energy levels well. When well-balanced, they are brave and highly intellectual—leaders or teachers—and they enjoy to be in the spotlight.

Kapha - The Water Constitution
Kapha is the type of energy responsible for storage, protection, lubrication, mucus, and the production of fats and oils. People who have elevated levels of kapha tend to be greedy, apathetic, slow, heavy, and cloudy-headed when imbalanced. They are prone to problems with hypothyroidism, obesity, clogged arteries, oily skin, and diabetes, among other things. They like to hoard and store their energy. When well-balanced, they are compassionate, steady, articulate, healthy, sweet, and reliable, enjoying food, sleep, and laughter.
