If you're planning to use the hot brew method, keeping the temperature at 100ºC/212ºF is ideal. Begin by boiling 1L of filtered water and pouring it over the filter, allowing it to steep for about 20 minutes. After that, simply add ice and cold filtered water to fill it up.
Alternatively, if you prefer the cold brew method, just place the filter in a pitcher, fill it with filtered or boiled and cooled water (the latter is recommended), and let it sit in the fridge for 4-6 hours. Once the brewing is complete, take out the filter and serve.
